About Form B Studios
I had the idea to start Form B Studios after finding the Run 8 Train Simulation software. Run 8 strives for realism in their physics and how trains handle, truly taking it from a game to a simulation. It was that goal that made me think it would be great to have a reasonably realistic implementation of dispatching software to use as a companion product to Run 8.
I grew up a lifelong railfan and am a programmer in my “day job”. That seemed like a good mix and I started taking the idea of train dispatching software (as a simulation) to reality. I started the first version of Train Simulator and Computer Aided Dispatcher (abbreviated as TSCAD - pronounced Tee-Es-Cad) in 2014. While that first attempt never got out of the development phase, a lot of lessons were learned.
In 2017, I started on TSCAD again from the ground up. Taking in to consideration all the lessons learned in the previous attempt, the new TSCAD moved forward and entered beta in 2018.
There were some delays in 2019 for several reasons, the biggest of which being that this was a “fun” job and not my “day” job. But with those reasons behind me, the final changes were made and Form B Studios LLC was formed in November 2019.
